Art and Yoga Retreat
The retreat begins with arrival at Herdade da Burquilheira, a place where time slows down and Nature sets the rhythm. Upon arrival, participants are welcomed with a tasting of Amante organic olive oil, produced on the estate itself — a genuine first encounter with the land, its cycles, and its flavours. This is followed by an introductory session in which the history of Herdade da Burquilheira is shared and the spirit of the retreat is presented.
The mornings begin with a yoga class, designed to gently awaken the body and inner energy, creating space for presence and mindfulness. The afternoons are dedicated to artistic creation, in a calm and inspiring environment, where participants may choose between ceramics or painting.
In the ceramics workshop, the encounter begins with clay — its origin, texture, and properties — and with the discovery of how hands give it form and meaning. Using natural Portuguese clays, participants explore free modelling and different decoration techniques, allowing each piece to emerge intuitively. At the end, the final stage of the ceramic process is introduced: the firing (bisque firing), explained theoretically, bringing the creative cycle to a close.
In the painting workshop, the process unfolds without rigid rules and without haste. Using gouache, watercolour, oil, or acrylic, each participant chooses the technique that most appeals to them, exploring colour, form, and gesture freely. Canvases in various formats and different types of paper are available so that each creation can find its own support.
On the final day, the retreat concludes with a morning yoga session, a moment of integration and farewell. Participants depart carrying with them the serenity, balance, and connection created with the place before check-out — with the quiet promise of returning.
