Our Country House lies at the heart of Herdade da Burquilheira, surrounded by the Alentejo landscape and offering 360º views over nature. A place where the peace and quiet of the countryside invite you to slow down and enjoy the Alentejo.
Monte da Burquilheira has been carefully restored, preserving the character and authenticity of a traditional Alentejo farmhouse. The Country House features two suites, a living room with a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen. The living room opens onto a covered terrace overlooking the landscape, where you can enjoy a remarkable sunset over the Alentejo. Inside, traditional terracotta floor tiles, fired in a wood-burning kiln, preserve the character of old Alentejo homes.
With veryyyyy slow Wi-Fi and no television, days here follow a different rhythm. You can pick olives or join us during the pruning season, visit our cows — perhaps discover a newborn calf, or help give them food and water — go fishing, ride a bicycle and scrape your knees, or simply read that book you never seem to have time for by the pool.
During your stay at Herdade da Burquilheira, you may also take part in the experiences and activities we organise throughout the year, including yoga retreats, ceramics and painting workshops, or set off on a bike ride to Évora.

The Monte da Burquilheira Country House is reserved exclusively for your stay — and we will be your only neighbours — allowing you to enjoy the privacy and tranquillity of Herdade da Burquilheira’s 300 hectares and everything the Alentejo landscape has to offer.
The house features a living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and two suites, both with private bathrooms — one with a bathtub and the other with a walk-in shower.
The kitchen is equipped with a hob, microwave, refrigerator, kettle, toaster, tableware and all the utensils you need to prepare your meals. You will also find a selection of Alentejo seasonings and our Amante Extra Virgin Olive Oil, made from olives grown in the estate’s own olive grove.
For those days when you would rather not cook, we also offer a lunch and dinner delivery service prepared by a restaurant in the village of Alcáçovas.
The living room opens onto a covered terrace overlooking the landscape and a remarkable sunset. From here, you also have direct access to the garden and swimming pool — a place to enjoy the peace of the Alentejo countryside, without rushing.
